In Part 1 of this series, we showed how the tempter succeeded in seducing Eve who thought she knew the word of Yahweh, but instead of acting upon that word, she chose to do that which promised satisfaction, without giving any thought to the consequences that Yahweh had said would follow such disobedience. By contrast it was demonstrated that Yahshua, though very hungry, did not give in to the demands of His body or to Satan’s suggestion for appeasing His appetite or of gaining instant worldly acclaim. Yahshua not only knew the word of Yahweh but also believed and acted upon it. The result was that He finally drove Satan from His presence.
When we stand upon the word, like Yahshua we will resist the enemy. Satan does not have the power to compel us to disobey Yahweh's commands. On the other hand, when like Adam and Eve we doubt or do not attach much importance to the word of Yahweh, we are vulnerable to the suggestions of Satan. Like the first human beings we too will be punished with banishment from Yahweh and with death. It is that serious. Obedience to Yahweh is paramount and is not to be treated lightly.
Yahshua foreknew that the days would come when there would be massive deception on a magnitude unseen before. He knew that just as Eve was deceived and led astray, so too would a large proportion of the entire world. As He approached the end of His earthly mission, He felt a compulsion to warn His present and future disciples of the need to be on guard against the cunning devices of the enemy. In Matt 24:11-12, He cautioned all those who desired to follow Him saying, "many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold".
Who might be these ‘false prophets’?
Peter helps us with the answer for he wrote in 2 Pet 2:1 there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies.
Anyone who claims to be a messenger of Yahweh but declares some doctrine other than that which is upheld in the Scriptures is a false teacher. It would equally relate to persons whose teachings are contrary to what Yahshua taught. One of the last instructions He gave to His disciples was: make disciples of all the nations … teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you Matt 28:19-20. Anyone promoting a doctrine that deviates from Yahshua's teaching is false.
How about ‘lawlessness’, what might that be?
Weymouth’s translation of Matt 24:11-12 is as follows:
Many false prophets will rise up and lead multitudes astray; and because of the prevalent disregard of [Yahweh’s] law the love of the great majority will grow cold.
We are told in 1 John 3:4, whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness. An alternative translation in the KJV is whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
‘Lawlessness’ then, as is used in the Bible, is the absence or avoidance of Yahweh’s laws. Anyone who disobeys or disregards Yahweh’s commands sins and is lawless. Adam and Eve and all persons of succeeding generations who have flouted Yahweh’s laws, have committed lawlessness. This term would most certainly also apply to persons who claim that Yahweh's laws are abolished, when the Bible plainly tells us that His truth endures to all generations Ps 100:5. The majority of Christendom believes the laws of Yahweh are abolished or are not relevant to this age or to non-Israelites. Their excuse is that ‘grace’ has made the laws of Yahweh obsolete. According to the Bible definition, they are lawless. Consistent with Yahshua's statement in Matt 24:11-12, they are also deceived, and are continuing to deceive most of the world, just as Yahshua had said.
We will now examine the concept of 'grace' that they claim has displaced Yahweh's laws.
What is Grace?
The word ‘grace’ did not suddenly appear for the first time in the Bible, when Paul highlighted it in his writings. Together with its synonym ‘favour’ it was used over one hundred times in the Old Testament. When it refers to the benevolence of Yahweh towards anyone, it often indicates that Yahweh would bestow His kind, merciful and loving deeds or blessings upon them. Sometimes it was an indication that Yahweh was pleased with someone as in the case of Noah Gen 6:8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of [Yahweh]. At other times it was an unmerited favour as when Yahweh said through His prophet Jeremiah The people who survived the sword found grace in the wilderness [even] Israel, when I went to give him rest Jer 31:2. It was not because Israel had pleased Yahweh. Rather it was Yahweh’s expression of His love, mercy and kindness towards them (see verse 3).
This is usually the meaning given to 'grace' when it is frequently used in the New Testament.
Yahweh’s purpose in creating man was to have persons (as opposed to angels or the elements of nature), who with a free will, could choose to worship and serve Him. These would become part of His family and dwell with Him eternally. Adam and Eve failed the test of obedience that Yahweh had given to them and instead of living eternally with Yahweh from that time onwards, they were banished from the Garden of Eden.
The sin of Adam and Eve did not thwart Yahweh’s plan, for He foreknew the decision they would have made and had in place a method for restoring man to a perfect relationship with Himself.
From Adam’s descendants, Yahweh chose one family (the Israelites) to be a people for Himself, a special treasure above all the peoples on the face of the earth Deut 7:6. But they like Adam and Eve disobeyed Him. Throughout the ensuing years they continued in the path of disobedience and broke the covenant that Yahweh made with them. They constantly vacillated between obedience and disobedience and each time experienced Yahweh’s blessings or curses. They and mankind generally who had strayed from their Maker were on that same road to destruction on which Adam and Eve had chosen to travel when they disobeyed Yahweh. From the beginning Yahweh had said that sin (disobedience) would bring about death (destruction). But Yahweh created mankind to live with Him – not to be destroyed. Nevertheless the penalty He had decreed for sin had to be paid. Yahweh therefore sent His only Son to die in place of the fallen human race, for [Yahweh] so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life John 3:16.
This everlasting life was not an automatic gift bestowed on all, but only to those, who, exercising their freedom of choice, opted for life rather than death. Those who accept the death of their Saviour as the paid penalty for their sin, and decide to obey Him, would eventually inherit eternal life. Those who did not would be still subject to a final death as punishment for their sin as though their Saviour (Yahshua) had not died. This gift of eternal life is the unmerited favour (grace) Yahweh has shown to mankind. It cannot be earned. However, in the same way that sin and death first came into the world through disobedience, so those who will inherit eternal life will be the ones who choose to obey Yahweh. Disobedience and refusal to accept Yahweh's free gift will result in eternal death. Obedience together with His free gift ensures everlasting life.
Thus we see two different but complementary factors at work. Accepting 'the free gift of Yahweh' (grace) opens the gateway to eternal life. But we must, unlike Adam and Eve also choose to obey Him, for we have already seen that disobedience, which is sin, separates Man from Yahweh.
Grace without law
Instead of Christendom understanding that ‘grace’ and ‘the law’ are like a pair of hands that work together to achieve a desired end, they believe they are in opposition to each other. They think the law has been replaced by 'grace', and that there is therefore no need to adhere to Yahweh's laws. It is a return to the folly of Adam and Eve who thought they could continue to be the recipients of Yahweh's favour, without the need to obey Him. This is the exact dangerous and erroneous doctrine of lawlessness that Yahshua forewarned us of in Matt 24:11-12.
Those who are deceived in Christendom affirm that there is nothing you need to do. Just believe (have faith) in Yahshua’s finished work and you will inherit eternal life. This doctrine leads to the false belief that once saved one is assured of entering the kingdom of Yahweh regardless of sins that person may later commit. Please read our article 'Eternal Security'.
The misguided theory of salvation without obeying Yahweh's commands, implies that a practising liar, murderer, adulterer, thief or homosexual for example only needs to have faith in Yahshua’s finished work, do nothing, and continue to live as before for there is absolutely nothing he/she needs to do. ‘Grace’ has done it all for them. When grace came in Yahweh’s laws went out. No human effort is required. Yahweh’s laws are irrelevant or totally obsolete. If that were true, then sinners who claim to believe in Yahshua but kept on sinning would enter the kingdom of Yahweh. But this is contradicted in many Scriptures. Even those in Christendom who believe the laws are abolished would readily agree that such a doctrine would be false. Nevertheless it is the only logical conclusion one can arrive at from the belief that the grace of Yahweh has made His laws redundant.
In spite of the implications of this non-Biblical lawless salvation, most of Christendom continues to fervently believe and teach it. Now compare this doctrine with Yahshua’s words that in the last days lawlessness will abound or as Weymouth renders it there will be a prevalent disregard of [Yahweh’s] laws, and ask yourself if this ‘grace only’ theology is not the direct fulfilment of Yahshua’s prophecy in Matthew 24:11,12, of the lawless deception that would be prevalent.
Christendom at large thinks that their stance is a reasonable inference from John 3:16. There can be no doubt that Yahweh’s gift is indeed free. As Isaiah wrote: Ho! Everyone who thirsts, Come to the waters; And you who have no money, Come, buy and eat. Yes, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price Isa 55:1. Yahshua has indeed paid the price for us. But the Bible is very clear in many places that by receiving the gift, one is committed to accept the responsibility that comes with it. James wrote, as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also James 2:26.
If a car manufacturer gave you the gift of a new car, you would have paid nothing for it, but with accepting the gift would come the responsibility to use the car in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. If you did not, you would be abusing the free gift and this could lead to unnecessary risks or damages that would quickly cause the free gift to be useless. That would not be the way to show your appreciation of the gift. On the other hand by taking care of it, you are not attempting to earn the gift. It has been already given to you. Similarly the free gift (grace) of Yahweh is given to you. You did not and cannot earn it but you have a duty to value it and obey the ‘Manual’. This simple fact is incomprehensible to those who prefer a carefree lawless salvation and ignore large sections of the Bible.
John in his first epistle wrote: by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. He who says, "I know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of [Yahweh] is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked 1 John 2:3-6.
Adam and Eve had the privilege of enjoying the many gifts provided for them in the idyllic Garden of Eden. They lacked nothing, and they did not earn it. It had been freely bestowed upon them. Yahweh made just one command, which they were required to keep, but that was too much for them. They preferred the freedom to do as they pleased, but no doubt expected to continue to enjoy the free gifts. It did not work! By showing an indifference to Yahweh's command, they also lost their free gift. They were banned and doomed to die.
Christendom, which thinks they can retain Yahweh's free gift of salvation while disobeying Him are just as deluded as Adam and Eve. It did not work for the first people Yahweh created, and it will not work for you either. Yahshua's warning of lawlessness is not to be dismissed as though He had not spoken.
Belief in Yahshua is much more than an affirmation of who He is and what He did. It is much more than exulting the name 'Jesus' as He is erroneously called. It entails an unswerving acceptance and obedience of all that He said. Yahshua said, "If you love Me, keep My commandments" John 14:15. To say we love Him yet treat lightly or ignore what He says is contrary to the teachings of Yahshua and demonstrates a lack of faith in Him.
Yahshua warned us of the need to be careful to ensure that we are travelling on His road and not following the large crowd on the easy road to damnation. He said, "Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it" Matt 7:13, 14. Most of Christendom is walking on the broad way of lawlessness that leads to destruction.
Make no mistake about it; a lawless person, organisation, society or nation is recklessly heading for disaster. Life’s experiences teach us that the absence of laws leads to chaos, suffering, anarchy, bewilderment and destruction. At home, in sports, the workplace, our neighbourhoods and while driving for example, except we adhere to some accepted standard of behaviour we can expect danger, disappointment, hardship and anguish for others and ourselves. Even nature obeys Yahweh’s commands: He assigned to the sea its limit, So that the waters would not transgress His command Prov 8:29. Again Psalm 148:8 refers to Fire and hail, snow and clouds; Stormy wind, fulfilling His word. Can you begin to imagine what would happen if every element in nature were uncontrolled and allowed to do as it pleased? Yahweh in His wisdom gave boundaries to all of His creation, and made laws to guide humanity in the right paths. It is idolatrous to think that your thoughts are better than Yahweh's instructions, and it is blasphemous to say you are one of His chosen people or His messenger while you dishonour His truth.
Satan the deceiver has fed and spread delusive doctrines that the laws of Yahweh are not applicable to our age or to Gentile people, thus excluding this age and Gentiles from the guiding and controlling wisdom of Yahweh, and releasing them from the need to obey Yahweh. Paul wrote in Gal 3:28, there is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in [Yahshua the Messiah]. We are told in Num 15:16 one law and one custom shall be for you and for the stranger who dwells with you. Gentile believers agree with Paul that they have been grafted into the one cultivated olive tree (Rom 11:17-24). This means that whereas Gentiles were once aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise Eph 2:12, we are now no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of [Yahweh] Eph 2:19. As members of Yahweh’s household, you are obliged to keep His rules. Those who are unwilling to abide by the rules of the Father's House are not members of His household.
Adam and Eve were thrust out of Yahweh's house (the Garden of Eden) when they were no longer willing to accept the rules of His house. Like Eve in the Garden of Eden, the majority of worshippers in Christendom prefer to heed Satan’s lies, than to obey the truths that were once for all delivered to the saints Jude 3. As we shall see later in this article, they like Adam and Eve will be thrust out of from Yahweh's presence because they refuse to keep His commands. The very people that should be bastions of truth and shining examples of uprightness have accepted and are propagating a theory that is contrary to the Bible, which will finally lead them to destruction.
While Yahshua did not condemn the woman caught in adultery He said to her "sin no more" John 8:11. This woman was told in effect to make an effort from that time onwards to stop her sinning. After healing the infirmed man who had been at the pool of Bethesda, Yahshua said to him, "See, you have been made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you" John 5:14. His newly found freedom from his infirmity was not to be a licence for him to continue to sin.
There can be no doubt that we are saved by the favour (grace) of Yahweh and not as a payment for any work we have done or can do. It is incorrect to deduce that there is therefore nothing we need to do. Yahweh has not forgiven our sins so that we can continue to break or ignore His commands. We are saved by His grace so that we can follow Him in spirit and in truth. As an expression and evidence of our appreciation for what He has done we are obliged to obey Him.
Obeying Yahweh is the proof that we are His followers. He who says, "I know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him 1 John 2:4. Yahshua said, "If you love Me, keep My commandments" John 14:15. In John 15:14 He said, "You are My friends if you do whatever I command you." John in his first epistle wrote: By this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments 1 John 2:3. At the end of his discourse in Ecclesiastes on the purposes of man’s life, Solomon concluded that the whole duty of man is to fear [Yahweh], and keep his commandments Eccl 12:13, KJV.
His laws will continue to the end. In Rev 22:14, we are told, Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.
The theory that there is no need to keep Yahweh’s laws is unscriptural, untrue, irrational and very dangerous.
Yahshua and Paul
Yahshua taught that
- We must build upon the rock of His words, Matt 7:24.
- His way is the right way. I am the way, the truth, and the life John 14:6.
- Doing what He says is the proof that we love Him. If you love Me, keep My commandments John 14:15.
- The right way is unpopular, because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it Matt 7:14.
- He did not come to abolish the law Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfil Matt 5:17.
- He would disown any who practised lawlessness by not keeping the commandments. Many will say to Me in that day, "[Master, Master], have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?" And then I will declare to them, "I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!" Matt 7:22, 23.
- Those who practise lawlessness (violate Yahweh's laws) will be burned up. The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness, and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth Matt 13:41-42. Most denominations preach that sinners will be cast into the lake of fire, without realising that is where they are all heading, as long as they continue to disregard Yahweh's laws.
All of these signify the importance and necessity of obeying His word and not becoming lawless by doing whatever is fashionable, convenient or sounds good. Nevertheless many so-called ‘believers’ have chosen to put aside the consistent teachings of Yahshua in preference to some of Paul’s misunderstood writings. In doing so they convey the impression that they are elevating Paul above the One who brought them grace. Was Paul [impaled] for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul? 1 Cor 1:13.
Yahweh’s Son Yahshua, who is the Messiah, our Saviour and the highest authority who ever walked this earth, taught quite clearly that the law is not abolished. Nevertheless using only some of Paul’s writings, the lawless majority have built up a worldwide doctrine that grace replaces the law, and by this have implied that the words of Paul are of more significance than those of Yahshua. This is most unfortunate, for Paul never sought to put himself on a par with Yahshua, far less would he have considered his teaching to be of greater import than that of Yahshua. Paul said, "Imitate me, just as I also imitate [the Messiah]" 1 Cor 11:1. Here Paul was clearly giving to Yahshua His rightful place of authority. Yahshua’s teaching has not once conveyed the impression that grace has abolished the laws. On the contrary He said, "Unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven" Matt 5:20.
Yahshua illustrated what He meant by the examples in Matt 5:21-29, which were all taken from the law. He introduced each concept with the expression: "You have heard that it was said … but I say". In each case rather than taking away anything from the law He added a more stringent clause that struck right at the heart of the matter. Yahshua did not come to abolish the old but to bring out its true meaning and take the law to a new and higher level. He wanted obedience to the law to begin in the heart and work its way outward. This is why He was so critical of the Pharisaic hypocrisy that focused only on external shows of righteousness to impress others and completely missed the deeper intent of the law.
Yahshua said to the Pharisees, "woe to you Pharisees! For you tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass by justice and the love of [Yahweh]. These you ought to have done, without leaving the others undone" Luke 11:42. “Yes”, Yahshua was saying, "you ought to keep the law of tithing as commanded in the Old Testament, but you should also do justly, … love mercy, and walk humbly with your [Elohim] Micah 6:8.
Yahshua was so much in support of adhering to the law that He cautioned, "Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven" Matt 5:19. When Yahshua was asked by the rich young man "what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?" Matt 19:16, Yahshua replied, "If you want to enter into life, keep the commandments" Matt 19:17.
These are not the words of someone who was getting rid of the law. On the evidence of these and many other consistent sayings by our Master Teacher, it is clear that if we are to be obedient to Him we cannot follow and promote a lawless doctrine and fall into the end-time snare of lawlessness that Yahshua said we are to avoid.
The adherents of a lawless religion have chosen to overwork some of Paul’s writings to prove that the law is abolished, when many distinctly opposite evidences could also be cited from Paul’s own statements to prove that he upheld and kept the law.
- "This I confess to you, that according to the Way which they call a sect, so I worship the [Elohim] of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the Law and in the Prophets" Acts 24:14
- "We know that the law is good if one uses it lawfully" 1 Tim 1:8.
- "The law is holy, and the commandment holy and just and good" Rom 7:12.
- "Is the law sin? Certainly not! On the contrary, I would not have known sin except through the law. For I would not have known covetousness unless the law had said, “You shall not covet" Rom 7:7.
- "I delight in the law of [Yahweh] according to the inward man" Rom 7:22.
‘Grace only’ is an unbalanced doctrine that is based mainly on some statements of Paul and ignore his other sayings as well as the abundant evidences in support of the law that are found in Yahshua’s teachings and throughout the rest of the Bible. Those who intend to disobey Yahweh need no excuse for doing so. Disobedience begins in the heart and takes hold of any opportunity to further its purposes.
By building their theology on only one side of Paul’s teachings and ignoring Paul’s other sayings, and the rest of the Bible, many have been ensnared in the manner to which the apostle Peter had alluded. In 2 Pet 3:15-17 he wrote: "our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures. You therefore, beloved, since you know this beforehand, beware lest you also fall from your own steadfastness, being led away with the error of the wicked"
We do not have to try to explain or reconcile the sayings of Paul that are "hard to understand". For now it is good enough to obey him in the manner and to the extent that he himself advocated by following him where his message is aligned with Yahshua’s. We can put seeming contradictions on hold for discussion with Paul when we see him. This stance is far better and safer than to brush aside Yahshua’s message and the rest of the Bible and be "led away with the error of the wicked".
Supremacy of Yahshua
In John 7:16 Yahshua said to the Jews who were perplexed by His profound knowledge, "My doctrine is not Mine, but His who sent Me". He also said in John 10:30, "I and My Father are one". At Yahshua’s transfiguration suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!" Matt 17:5. Yahweh Himself gave His personal stamp of approval to Yahshua’s words. Unlike anyone else, Yahshua [came] down from heaven, not to do [His] own will, but the will of Him who sent Him John 6:38. John in making reference to Yahshua said, "He who comes from above is above all" John 3:31.
Yahshua stands out far above all mortals. Incomparable and inestimable, He is the only Son of Yahweh. Who else but He could truthfully say, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth"? Matt 28:18. With whom will you compare Him - Paul? Paul is only His bondservant. The greatest Bible hero or the most famous reformer fades into insignificance beside Him. Only He is seated at the right of the Father, as Paul himself admitted, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come Eph 1:21. Paul acknowledged that at Yahshua's name, every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth Phil 2:10.
He is called, Wonderful Counsellor and Prince of peace (Isa 9:6); the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings and [Ruler of rulers] (1 Tim 6:15); Redeemer (Isa 59:20); the Word of [Yahweh] (Rev 19:13); the Word of life (1 John 1:1); the Image of the invisible [Elohim] (Col 1:15); the Great Shepherd (Heb 13:20); the firstborn among many brethren (Rom 8:29); Immanuel (Matt 1:23); the Bright Morning Star (Rev 22:16); the Beloved of Yahweh (Matt 12:18); the Way, the Truth and the Life (John 14:6); Anointed ... more than [His] companions (Ps 45:7); the Author and Finisher of our faith (Heb 12:2); the Lamb of [Yahweh] (John 1:36) and the Light of the world (John 1:9).
In character He is holy (Luke 1:35); righteous (Isa 53:11); just (Zech 9:9); guileless (1 Pet 2:22); innocent (Matt 27:4); meek (Matt 11:29 KJV); merciful and faithful (Heb 2:17); humble (Phil 2:8) and forgiving (Luke 23: 34).
He is worshipped by demons (Mark 5:6); man (John 9:38); angels (Heb 1:6) and the disciples (Luke 24:52).
These are just a fraction of Yahshua's credentials. When this Man of such stature speaks, everyone must take note as Yahweh commanded at the transfiguration, for He carries the force, power and truth of Yahweh. His was and still is the voice of Yahweh on the earth. We can get no higher than this. Yahshua is the ultimate authority on any subject that He discussed. Yahshua told us that if we want to build a solid and sure foundation, we must build upon His words (Matt 7:24-27). No other words are as sure as His. You do not have to be deceived for when there is doubt you can find clarity by seeking to know what Yahshua had to say on the topic. Yahshua said, "Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away" Luke 21:33.
He is the only gateway to eternal life. He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of [Yahweh] abides on him John 3:36. How dare you then treat His words with contempt and ignore Him as if He had never spoken, then say you believe in Him? Without active belief in what He said, you will be barred from His presence, and you will not be able to use Paul or anyone else as the excuse for your disobedience. Yahshua said to the Jews: "if I tell the truth, why do you not believe Me?" John 8:46. Why is it so difficult for those who claim that Yahshua speaks the truth, to believe His words?
If Christendom really accepts the truth of John 3:16, and the necessity to believe in Yahshua, they ought to reconsider what exactly they mean by 'believe'. James tells us You believe that there is one [Elohim]. You do well. Even the demons believe--and tremble! James 2:19. Even though demons acknowledge there is one Elohim and tremble, they still disobey Him. Believing about Yahweh and believing in Him are not synonymous. Believing about Yahweh requires only a mental recognition of His existence, which even demons do. Believing in Him demands trusting Him and obeying Him; demons will not do that.
The connection between belief and obedience is borne out in Heb 3:18-19. And to whom did He swear that they would not enter His rest, but to those who did not obey? So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief. The disobedience of the children of Israel in the wilderness was evidence of their unbelief. Christendom's persistent disobedience of Yahweh's commands is proof of their unbelief in Him and His Son Yahshua. Strong emotional attachment to Yahweh and Yahshua is not the same as believing in Them and obeying Them.
You are no better than demons if your professed belief is unsupported by obedience to Yahshua. How dare you discard His words, so that you can do what you think Paul said? Can Paul deliver you from the burning furnace? Who then is Paul? 1 Cor 3:5.
[Yahweh], who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds Heb 1:1, 2.
Since Yahshua who is Yahweh’s spokesman has taught that the law still stands, then those who genuinely love Him and believe in Him will not accept that the law is finished and superseded by grace. To dismiss Yahshua’s words is to disregard the words of Yahweh. There is no greater error possible.
Because of the grace-overthrowing-law fallacy, many have taken grace to be the licence for their licentious behaviour and to avoid obeying Yahweh. Jude acknowledged that this was happening in his day for he wrote: certain men have crept in unnoticed, who long ago were marked out for this condemnation, [evil] men, who turn the grace of our [Elohim] into lewdness Jude 4.
Likewise today we have the scandalous contradiction of practising homosexual ‘priests’, who break the Old Testament law as stated in Lev 18:22, you shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination, because they think that grace gives them the freedom to do so. In this false belief they also ignore the words of Paul whom they revere and whom they regard as giving them freedom from the law. Paul came out very strongly against any misconception that practising sinners would enter Yahweh’s kingdom. He said: Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of [Yahweh]? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of [Yahweh] 1 Cor 6:9-10. These so called ‘priests’ are deceived. They listen to the voices of Satan and of their passions, lusts and depraved minds but follow neither the directives of the Old nor the New Testament.
There is no section of the Bible that condones homosexuality. In fact the Bible uses very strong words to describe it. As we have seen it is called an 'abomination' in Lev 18:22. The 'Free Dictionary' says an 'abomination' is "a person or thing that is disgusting; an action that is vicious, vile, etc; intense loathing". The Strong's Exhaustive Concordance defines it as "something disgusting (morally)". Paul writes about this subject at some length in Romans 1:18-32, in which he used words like "uncleanness"; "lusts of their hearts"; "dishonor their bodies"; "vile passions"; "shameful"; and having a "debased mind". It is incomprehensible how one can stand before a pulpit to preach from the Bible, which plainly denounces their lustful practices.
Homosexuality is not only a detestable sin that Yahweh hates and punishes except one repents, but is itself a punishment for sin. Romans 1:18-32 shows that as a result of man’s failure to acknowledge the power and deity of Yahweh, He gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful Rom 1:26, 27.
This chapter in Romans shows that homosexuality is a symptom of the degradation to which man has plummeted. As man has turned away from and despised Yahweh, so the incidence of the insidious and abhorrent aberration of homosexuality has skyrocketed. As it was indicative of the sinful state of Sodom and Gomorrah so its prevalence today is a measure of how far our society has turned from Yahweh.
Yahweh sent His angels on a destructive mission because the outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah [was] great, and because their sin [was] very grave Gen 18:20. Sodom and Gomorrah had gone beyond the point of cleansing. In the midst of their depravity they were totally destroyed. Since the outcry of Sodom and Gomorrah was great and their sin was very grave, is there any reason, why Yahweh would overlook the cities and nations of our world today, which are practising the identical sin on an even larger scale? Yahweh's punishment is on its way. The preponderance of lawlessness (sin) tells us the end cannot be far away. The day of a new heaven and new earth is fast approaching, but before that time comes, Yahweh will pour forth His wrath upon the sinful world. Read Rev 8:7- 9:18; 16:8; 18:8, and see what will be the end of all who disobey Yahweh.
Rev 21:8 warns that the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death. Playing with sin is literally playing with fire. We are told in Heb 10:31 it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living [Elohim]. The game will be soon over, and then it will be pay time. You may think you are in control now, and can make a mockery of Yahweh's commands. It will not be a laughing matter when Yahweh unleashes His awesome vengeance on a sin-sick world.
You do not need to be one of those who will experience Yahweh's wrath. Yahweh will forgive the sins of any penitent sinner, but when He forgives, He also says, "go and sin no more" John 8:11. Yahshua’s forgiveness is grace. 'Sinning no more' involves adherence to Yahweh’s laws, for whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness 1 John 3:4.
We need grace - the favour of Yahweh in forgiving our sins, but we also need to obey all the commands of Yahweh to keep us from straying away from His paths into our ways of unrighteousness. The Laws give us the standard by which we can pattern our lives. Without it we are like sailors out in the ocean who have no device for determining their true location. Grace is not intended to be the means whereby we may be lost or shipwrecked. In conjunction with Yahweh's instructions, we can safely journey to our eternal home. Satan has beguiled genuine worshippers of Yahweh into thinking the choice is between ‘grace’ and the law. This is a lie. It is not a case of either grace or the law, but BOTH!
Homosexual ‘priests’ are victims of Satan’s lies and deception. Just like Eve, they believe the word of the adversary rather than the word of Yahweh. They prefer to yield to their passions and lusts than to present [their] bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to [Yahweh] Rom 12:1. This is bad enough, but to wear what is conceived to be the righteous garb of honour and to use their respected positions to lead others astray is a scandalous example of delusion and 'spiritual wickedness in high places' Eph 6:12 KJV. They are reminiscent of the ignorant, arrogant and lying prophets of Jeremiah’s day who prophesied lies in the name of Yahweh. These are some of today’s true Pharisees who are like whitewashed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness Matt 23:27. Homosexual ‘priests’ and those who support or condone their actions do disservice to Yahweh’s cause. As Peter wrote, many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed 2 Pet 2:2.
The degradation and example of practising homosexual ‘priests’ should be an eye-opener to those who believe they can flout the commands of Yahweh and still serve Him. It is one of many examples that could be given to show how far mankind has strayed and will stray when they are deluded and replace Yahweh’s thoughts and words with those of the adversary and their evil hearts.
Nevertheless we must not allow the repugnance that we feel towards homosexual ‘priests’ to cause us to experience and develop a secure and smug sense of self-righteousness. Neither should we hate such persons, but their vile acts, which are the symptom of man’s disobedience of Yahweh. Deception comes in many different forms. Anytime we flout Yahweh’s laws we are no better than those ‘priests’. Sin is sin. To transgress Yahweh’s laws in one area is as bad as in any other area. For He who said, "Do not commit adultery," also said, "Do not murder" James 2:11. Putting self-interest before Yahweh’s commands is idolatry, for He is His word and vice versa. To dishonour His word is to dishonour Him. Yahshua said that if we build upon His word we are building upon a rock. Any other foundation for our belief is just the same as if we built a house on sand. When the final time of testing comes at the end of the age, no relic of false doctrines will be able to stand. Instead all law-breakers, (including fornicators, … idolaters, ... adulterers, ... homosexuals, ... sodomites, ... thieves, ... covetous, ... drunkards, ... revilers, and extortioners 1 Cor 6:9-10) will be told, "I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!" Matt 7:23.
Perhaps the most popular way in which Christendom has chosen to disobey Yahweh’s commands, is with regard to the fourth commandment given in Exod 20:8-11, for the observance of the seventh day Sabbath. Most Protestants generally show partial acceptance of nine of the Ten Commandments, which they believe to be applicable for all times and peoples, but insist that the fourth commandment is only ‘for the Jews’. For some inexplicable reason ‘grace’ has done away with this one commandment, but has retained the other nine! The Bible makes no such distinction. The Ten Commandments are the basis for man’s relationship with Yahweh and his fellow men. It is an indivisible package of basic instructions that Yahweh gave to mankind.
Yahweh’s word says that the seventh day is holy for in six days [Yahweh] made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore [Yahweh] blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it Exod 20:11. The seventh day is the day He has made holy above all others, including Sunday. Man cannot make any day holy.
It is clear from the accounts of all four gospels that the first day of the week, which is called Sunday is the day on which Yahshua arose. But there is no record whatsoever to be found in the entire Bible that because of this Yahweh had changed the Sabbath from the seventh day to the first day of the week. The weekly Sabbath began at the end of the creation week. The creation week has gone, never to return. Therefore there cannot be another day chosen as the weekly Sabbath. Please read our article 'Is the Biblical Sabbath now Sunday'.
Sunday worship began in 321 A.D when Constantine decreed, "On the venerable day of the Sun let the magistrates and people residing in cities rest, and let all workshops be closed" (Codex Justinianus lib. 3, tit. 12, 3; trans. in Philip Schaff, History of the Christian Church, Vol. 3, p. 380, note 1). Observe that Constantine's reason for choosing Sunday was not because it was the resurrection of the Saviour, but rather in honour of the sun. This was sun worship instead of Son worship. Sacrilege of the highest order is now adopted, venerated and even justified by Christendom!
Reference is often made to the following Scriptures to prove that the disciples had started worshipping on the first day of the week, in commemoration of the day on which Yahshua arose.
Acts 20:7 Now on the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul, ready to depart the next day, spoke to them and continued his message until midnight.
The breaking of bread was a regular daily occurrence and was not reserved for any specific day. Acts 2:46 tells us, "So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart." There is not even the slightest hint in both of these verses in Acts that this breaking of bread was related to the Sabbath worship, or that the disciples had decided to change the Sabbath day. On the contrary we find both Yahshua and His disciples regularly observing the seventh day Sabbath as commanded.
1 Cor 16:2 On the first day of the week let each one of you lay something aside, storing up as he may prosper, that there be no collections when I come.
This instruction by Paul was given so that the Corinthians would arrange a time for collecting for the saints in Jerusalem. There is nothing here to indicate that this was a 'Sabbath' meeting.
A pig does not become human by being dressed in human clothes. Neither does a pagan worship become holy by being clothed in holy garb. It is making a mockery of The Holy One who alone has the prerogative and power to make anything holy. Yahshua Himself said, "Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfil" Matt 5:17. If Yahweh’s Son and Messiah did not come to change the Sabbath then it is preposterous to implicate His disciples in such an irreverent act.
No, the disciples could not, would not and did not change the Sabbath. Constantine’s work was in part fulfilment of Daniels’ prophecy in Daniel 7:25 when an attempt would be made "to change times and law".
Satan and his cohorts have a particular hatred of the Sabbath day. Why is this so? The Sabbaths are Yahweh's special days. Fifteen times in the Old Testament, He said they are "My Sabbaths". In Exod 31:13 He said, "Surely My Sabbaths you shall keep, for it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I am [Yahweh] who sanctifies you". Observe that the Sabbaths are also a mark of identification of Yahweh's set apart (sanctified) people. Satan hates this, and motivated Constantine and the Roman Catholic Church to change the weekly day of worship from Sabbath to Sunday, and to disregard Yahweh's annual Sabbaths (Holy Days). They did this mainly out of a common hatred of 'anything Jewish'. If they had read the Scriptures they would have known that the Sabbaths do not belong to the Jews, but to Yahweh. Protestants have blindly accepted the Catholics' ruling, but have provided the false excuse that Sunday worship was in commemoration of the Saviour's resurrection. Like the Roman Catholics, they are generally hostile towards the observance of Yahweh's Sabbaths, more than any other of His commands.
In spite of those who dislike and oppose it, Yahweh's Sabbath is still the seventh day as He had declared in the Ten Commandments. Grace has not and cannot displace the Sabbath law or any of Yahweh's commandments. Doctrines must be based on the facts stated in the Bible and not on invalid assumptions or erroneous popular traditions, whose origins you may not even know. If you seek to align all of your beliefs with the authentic words of the Bible, you shall discover for yourself the truth, and the truth shall set you free from false teachings. Let [Yahweh] be true but every man a liar Rom 3:4. Be not deceived!
The contrasting examples of Eve and Yahshua teach us that the sure way to avoid being deceived is by standing firmly on Yahweh’s word. There can be no room for compromise. With sin and deception on the increase and the genuine love of Yahweh’s truths on the decline, Bible end-time prophecies are being fulfilled. The spiritual barometers of our time all indicate that the end is almost here. Now is not the time to modernise our beliefs, play around with experimental theology or to seek a comfortable pathway to the kingdom. Party time is over. The shaking has begun. Everything that can be shaken is being shaken. Now more than ever we must be firmly rooted and unshakable by standing firmly upon Yahweh’s truths. Other religions are gaining a foothold right in our midst with a clear vision and purpose while most of Christendom remains apathetic, uncertain of its beliefs and strays from its foundational doctrines.
Let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous 1 John 3:7.
If we are to be true followers of Yahshua, then we cannot at the same time be participants in the lies and deluded doctrines of the majority in Christendom or in our society, which are at variance with Yahshua’s words. Since Yahshua has said that the laws are still valid, they have not been superseded by grace or replaced by any popular beliefs. When it comes to the truths of Yahweh there is no room for a majority vote. Yahweh’s words win every time. Whenever His commands are violated or compromised, there is no limit to how far this will lead. Eve may have thought that her decision was only related to eating one fruit, but that one act of disobedience brought about all the evils and sufferings that have plagued mankind ever since. The world is still reeling from the aftershocks of her folly.
It is our responsibility in this lawless age to stand firm upon Yahweh’s word, without giving in to any suggestions for diluting what He has said. Christendom is proclaiming doctrines that were not taught by Yahshua or His early apostles. Whereas the apostles were bold because of their awareness and confidence of the truth, Christianity is weak by being fragmented into over forty thousand denominations, with varying doctrines. The unity for which Yahshua prayed cannot be achieved until there is unity of doctrine. Without unity of doctrine, any alliance is a marriage of convenience to achieve a particular goal, and is not the oneness that Yahshua had in mind. The early divisions including the Reformation were mainly the result of doctrinal disagreement. It is for the same reason that over the years there have been many other offshoots of the main denominations, and these are continually being subdivided. This will continue to be the case until all 'believers' start to believe what the Bible actually says, and stop regarding their individual assumptions as Biblical facts.
It is time to be willing to be the solitary light on a hill and dispel the darkness around us. It is time to boldly defy the lies and deception of Satan and declare with an authoritative voice "Thus says Yahweh!" This is only possible when, unfettered by man-made dogmas, we are quite clear in our minds of what Yahweh’s word says and we willingly obey it ourselves. The disciples' faith was in their Master Teacher who said Yahweh's laws are not abolished. Who is your teacher?
If we cannot stand firmly on Yahweh’s words at the present time when we are generally allowed freedom of worship, how will we obey Him and defy all opposition when our freedom and lives are threatened because of our beliefs? Now is the time to practise obedience or we will never survive when the heat of the ‘furnace’ is intensified.
The examples of homosexual ‘priests’ and the replacement of the Sabbath represent a minuscule percentage of the myriad of instances in which ‘believers’ have been led astray by thinking that Grace replaces the Law, and have dishonoured Yahweh by substituting His commands with their own. Whenever we say, do, or believe anything that is contrary to what Yahweh has said, we have fallen into Satan’s traps, and are deceived. The words of Yahweh and of Yahshua have precedence over all others and are always trustworthy. Yahshua said, "I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life" John 8:12. The majority in Christendom have not been walking in the light of Yahshua’s words but have been led astray and are leading others off course by failing to follow, heed and obey Him. When the words of Yahweh and of Yahshua are no longer the bedrock of our beliefs then our profession is false, empty, fragile and futile.
Our salvation begins when we accept the grace (favour or gift) of Yahshua. But it is a lie to teach that we therefore do not need to walk in obedience to the law, when the law is upheld throughout the Bible from Genesis to Revelation with the exception of some misunderstood sayings of Paul. Grace does not replace the Law and neither can the Law take the place of grace. They serve two distinctly different purposes and are neither in conflict nor in competition with each other. ‘Grace’ displacing the law is a deception on a global scale, which fulfils Yahshua’s prophecy in Matt 24:12 that lawlessness [or disregard of Yahweh’s law] will abound. Those who should be the citadels of truth and leaders by example are themselves playing leading roles in defying and undermining the words of Yahweh and of Yahshua, and are causing many to be led astray. It is a betrayal of the Messiah to say you love Him yet side with those who are His enemies. Yahshua warns, "woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been good for that man if he had never been born" Mark 14:21.
Without exception we all need to be vigilant and to cry out regularly with all of our heart to Yahweh, asking Him to reveal the extent of our blindness, to open our eyes to His truths, to forgive us for the many callous ways in which we have shown contempt of Him and then to give us a heart that is determined to obey Him. When we meet Yahshua, we will not be pardoned by using either Adam’s excuse that someone else caused us to disobey, or Eve’s that we were beguiled by Satan. We each have a personal responsibility to ensure that our beliefs are based solely upon His doctrines. Any other basis for our beliefs emanate from Satan.
There is only ONE safe way that is guaranteed to take us into the kingdom. It is the narrow and unpopular way that Yahshua taught and was practised by His earliest followers. It involves more than a mental or emotional acknowledgement of Yahshua, but more importantly a steadfast compliance with all that He said. No endearment of Him can take the place of obeying Him. Demons tremble at the thought of who Yahweh is, but disobey Him just the same. Eve claimed to know what Yahweh had said but obeyed Satan instead. Biblical belief is much more than knowledge; it demands obedience. Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness? Rom 6:16.
Accept the grace of Yahweh and keep His commandments, for the law of [Yahweh] is perfect, converting the soul; The testimony of [Yahweh] is sure, making wise the simple Ps 19:7.
In almost the last words of the last book of the Bible, we are told:
Blessed are THOSE WHO DO HIS COMMANDMENTS, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city Rev 22:14.
There is no gate into the city for those who do not keep Yahweh's commandments! You are warned.
BE NOT DECEIVED!
